Area 52: Cyclops 3030 Development Center

Hidden deep in a US military base- the Cyclops 3030 is under development. The exact purpose of such a device is unknown at this time and the project is an on-going one that is being closely gaurded!

Programs used: Bryce 4, Corel PhotoPaint 8.

Nearly all the objects are Bryce primatives save the springs (which I found @ 3dcafe). A terrian was used for the spilled liquid on the floor. Just about all the textures used in this image were either my own creation or tweaks on an exsisting one. A Lot of boolean positive/negative work was done in this one. Including the Eyes in the chrome sockets, the broken glass on the floor. The table was a freebie off 3Dcafe.
This image was a first in a few areas for me. 1. it was the first image I have done in a closed area (4 walls, floor, ceiling.) 2. The lighting was also something new to me, in that all the light in the scene is actually coming from the lights on the ceilling. Each lighting fixture has 6 radial lights (18 total, for those that stink at math like myself) and they are set to ranged fall off at 1 intesity and 52 falloff. Placed in cylinders textured with glass and high reflection (so they catch the light.)
I still am not real happy with the ceiling or the boxes texture, so I could revamp it in the near future. Render time was a whooping 10 hours, 20 min. at high anti-aliasing and renderd at 1600x1200. I believe the reason for the long render time is that all but the dark green on the walls are reflective materials to some degree.
The only post work was adding the viens to the eyeballs.
The Blue Print on the wall was made by taking a screen shot of the bryce file's wireframe and constructing it in Corel PhotoPaint and applying it to a 2D square. The clock was made in a similar way by applying a photo of a clock face to a 2D circle and adding a torrus. FYI; The small one in the works on the back table is not scaled wrong. It's a smaller version in development. :-)
Over all, I'm pretty happy with it, and it won an award in March '02 from Watchful Eye. Enjoy.... 2.16.02
