| One of my most detailed images to date. All Bryce 4.0 with NO post work other than the text. Some of the bottles were freebies off the www. The rest was all made from bryce primitives and terrains. The Gauges were made by creating the dials in Corel Photopaint and applying them to a cylinder (you can find the oil gauge on my Objects page to study or use). The majority of the materials are either exsisting ones I tweaked or originals I made. The water spill on the floor is a hand painted terrain made in the Terrain editor. The curved Pipes are from a great set of add-on primitives you can find at 3D model world (about page 4 or 5 of the Bryce section). The rest is just a lot of objects with some nice materials (A few from Chemical Studios, last time I looked has removed their mats). Still one of my favorite images I have done.
There's a story I wrote to go with the image, here it is... Oct. 10th 1949: Dr. Daniel Bufford, age 30, an eccentric, introverted scientist disappeared without a trace; last seen by his wife Margret earlier that morning. She went into seclusion soon after without saying much at all to the police about her husband’s sudden vanishing. The trail that lead to him soon grew cold and the case was eventually closed quietly. All the while, Margret remembered her husband’s last words to her "I will return with God's help. Keep faith and trust that God created the scientific mind of man and will see me through this." Margret kept her lover’s words as well as any woman could. With endless prayers and hope that one day Daniel would return, she frequented the old makeshift lab which was the Doctors home away from home. It sat deep behind their house hidden in the vast acres of land. Replacing one light bulb after another as they burned out over the years, attempting to keep a bright and burning dream of Daniel alive, she hoped that one day, this adventure he took would eventually bring him back to her. Although she was strong, over the years her faith of his return began to weaken. March 22, 1981 12:00 a.m.- A strange rumble began to echo through the warehouse, shaking the tin roof and moving the walls. A blue flame was starting to grow, engulfing the main capsule of Dr. Bufford's long-dormant imaginative creation. The Doctor had taken his chances to explore time travel. Daniel, still age 30 (somehow unaffected by time), was returning home from the year 2067, but he slightly missed his window of opportunity. By seemingly just a few seconds of time and a miscalculation, he missed the exact mark to return to 1949. He will now find his 27 year old wife to be 59, her once long dark hair now short and grey, her once soft, smooth skin now covered in lines caused by her fret in the later years of loneliness. The shiney machine that once reflected the world around it now a rusted mass of metals. Yes, Dr. D. Bufford is returning home, but 32 years late. From this day on, Daniel will be looking for the next window of opportunity to return to 1949... 03.26.02-HSI |
